The atmosphere, the etiquette, the conversation and spirit of togetherness the hookah table brings. The hookah is passive, accepting, and non-judgemental. In a word, the hookah is chill. Anyone that smokes a hookah should follow in the spirit of hookah, always welcoming newcomers to the table, be they friends or strangers, always conversing, and having a good time. The spirit of hookah is not a mindset you have to keep yourself in, nor a philosophy you must subscribe to. Anyone that has hit the hookah in the company of friends can tell you that it is something that just happens, a feeling that you always get, an atmosphere that always settles over a hookah table. You will never fully comprehend what I am trying to describe from merely reading this piece, you have to grab a hookah and a couple friends, and go smoke in a park or Red square, perhaps even The Cobra Lounge. That's the best way to experience what I am talking about - getting out there and smoking with new people. That is very much in the spirit of hookah.

Our hookahs come from a facility on the desert outskirts of Cairo, Egypt. They are individually hand painted and the clay bowls are individually made by hand as well.

Our super premium shisha is the best you can find, period. Shipped to us directly from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, our shisha burns longer and smokes better than any in the world. Any experienced smokers who come into the lounge will recognize at first puff the quality we bring to the table.

Here's a set up rules every hookah should be smoked by:

   * Know the rotation. Don't go passing left when everyone else is passing right. That's just weird.

   * Don't Bogart the hose. Take your turn and share with everyone else.

   * Exceptions to the previous rule include: whoever paid for the shisha you're smoking and people that can do cool stuff with the smoke.(such as smoke rings or The Dragon)

   * Any newcomers to the table must be immediately offered a hose.

   * Don't get all squirelly while you're holding a hose. You'll knock the hookah over, showering your fellow smokers and all their possessions with red-hot coal. Not cool.

   * If someone does knock a coal onto someone or something, don't get all pissed. Shit happens.

   * Everyone should be welcome to smoke. Exceptions to this rule are few and far between, reserved for those who commit the heinous crime of being un-chill.

   * Respect.

Hookah etiquitte is different from lounge to house and from person to person. At the cobra lounge we are less strict about traditional rules and etiquitte, but we definitely don’t throw it all out the window. Such things as dress code and traditional methods are less important to us at the lounge but there are still a few things to keep in mind:

1: Never pick up a hookah by the stem. Infact if you have not picked one up before, don’t. ask someone working to move it for you. The bases are filled with water and will fall off and break if not moved properly. We will ask you to pay for anything you damage or break.

2: We are all adults, act like one. You should have found out by now that everybody here at the lounge is here for a good time, please don’t ruin that.
